Probiotics, Why Your Health Depends On Them

How often have you heard the expression “You are what you eat”? Of course most people will assume that refers to weight but it also applies to how healthy you are. There’s no question health is determined at the dinner table but according to the renowned Bacteriologist, Professor Ilya Mechnikov “death begins in the colon”.
    Let me explain.

In order to achieve optimum health we need

    Fresh Air
    Pure Clean Water
    Quality Nutrition

However, the majority of us lack good nutrition and even those who do consume the best nutrients in the world often cannot digest and assimilate them. Why?

Well, most of us have a bacteria imbalance and that has much to do with what we eat.

We’ve all heard the expression “balanced diet” and that actually consists of 20 per cent acid forming foods and 80 per cent alkali-forming foods. The scientific reason for this is that the loss of alkali from your body is four times as great as acid.

Alkali forming foods include all vegetables, salads, fresh fruits except cranberries and plums, almonds and milk.

Acid forming foods comprise all animal proteins like meat, fish, shellfish, eggs, cheese, poultry, nuts (except almonds), sugars, and all cereal foods and starches including bread and flour.

Understandably most of us prefer the acid forming foods and so do bad bacteria.
Your digestive tract stretches from your mouth to your anus and is full of bacteria. If you were to stretch out your intestines they would cover half a tennis court so you can tell we are talking millions here.

The ideal ratio of good to bad bacteria in the gut is 85:15. That’s 85% good (probiotic) and 15% bad (pathogenic). Most people have it the other way round.
How do you think you fare?

Probiotics are the first line of defence of the immune system. They are responsible for

providing essential enzymes to make nutrients available to the body
    cleaning up cholesterol
    manufacturing B vitamins
cleaning out the lower bowels of encrusted matter
    destroying bad bacteria
    eliminating toxins from the body.

Bacteria have no teeth. They produce enzymes which identify, digest and deliver nutrients to where they need to go. As enzymes are responsible for every metabolic process in your body you can well understand why probiotics are so essential.

There are many factors which upset the bacteria balance besides food. These anti-probiotics include

    Antibiotics,
    Birth control pills,
    Steroids/ Hormonal drugs
    Fluoride
    Chlorine
    Coffee/Tea
    Carbonated drinks
    Man made vitamins
    Synthetic ascorbic acid
    Radiation
    Stress
    Preservative
    Additives
    Pesticides
    Fertilisers

When you suffer low quantities of probiotic bacteria your immune system is severely compromised and you are likely to have health issues. If your intestines are blocked or polluted then your body will be diseased in some way and remember you have a lot of intestines to keep clean.

There are many probiotic formulations on the market today but the problem with most of them is that they don’t have sufficient variety to do any good. Some need nutrients generated by the others in order to perform their tasks. Most people don’t realise this.

More importantly each of their food sources need to be present so the probiotic bacteria will live in harmony and not kill each other off. This is important because the strongest bacteria will kill off the weakest ones especially when competing for food. The whole point of taking probiotics is to kill off pathogens, not each other.

In modern society taking probiotics is a must. However, you need to ensure the ones you take are active. Many formulations will state the amount of probiotics at the time of manufacture but unless they have a food source these start to die off immediately so the amount you actually receive when you take them could be significantly less. Read the labels.

If you aspire to good health you must care for your bowels. Think health, think probiotics!

If you know the cause of Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs), you can understand why a simple UTI natural remedy is one of the most effective ways to cure and prevent the bacteria from getting to your bladder. And many doctors are now recommending some of these same tips.

In most cases, UTIs are caused by the bacteria E Coli. The bacteria will get into the bladder or urinary tract and immediately begin to multiply because the urinary tract is like a giant Petri dish (perfect temperature and conditions). In most cases, the bacteria is killed and flushed from the body.

However, when the immunity is low, the bacteria can proliferate and an infection is inevitable. Fortunately, research has shown that E coli is not a very resilient bacterium and can be killed and flushed with simple natural remedies.

Natural Health and Your Urinary Tract Infection

Natural health has been more popular than it’s ever been with research now pointing to legitimate remedies. And the reason why some remedies are so effective is because they are using simple holistic ideas.

Holistic treatments are simply treatments that work to treat the whole body and not the symptoms. Synthetic prescriptions (the medicine you get from your doctor) typically work by treating the symptoms.

For instance, one holistic treatment for urinary tract infections is Vitamin C. Vitamin C, also known as ascorbic acid, is effective because it boosts the immune system to fight off diseases and infections. With a heightened immunity, the E coli bacterium is less likely to win the battle in your urinary tract.

And finally, natural health also does NOT have any side effects which many traditional prescriptions do.

    A Simple UTI Natural Remedy

There are 3 ‘musts’ to cure and treat any UTI infection. You need to know how to prevent future infections. You need to understand how certain natural acids can kill the bacteria affecting the urinary tract. And you need to know how to flush the bacteria.

The first part of any remedy is knowing prevention tips to keep the infection from every returning. One way is to take vitamin C supplements daily for a healthy immune system to fight off the next infection. Secondly, you need to know what foods flush away the ‘bad’ bacteria in your body. Here is a short list you should probably write down: Spinach, Potatoes, Zucchini, Carrots, Squash, Onions, Mineral water, broccoli, green beans, avocados, grapes, pears and apples.

You will notice that many of the foods are water-soluble fiber foods (fruits and vegetables) which have been shown to flush the body and help keep a healthy urinary tract. And on that subject, you should also be drinking plenty of fluids to flush your system regularly. Most Americans are dehydrated and don’t even know it! Ironically, we have clean water everywhere we go. You should drink at least 10 glasses of water a day to purge the body of harmful toxins.

You should also be eating acidophilus yogurt several times per week. This specific type of yogurt is great for keeping ‘good’ bacteria in your digestive and urinary system.

Finally, it might also be helpful to know what fruits have high levels of acid in them to kill the bacteria. Because the liver plays no role in regulation of acid and bases, you can actually detoxify your urinary tract with certain fruits and juices.

Most people have heard of antibiotics and how you have to take them when you get sick, but how many people know what Probiotics are? They are actually dietary supplements of live yeasts or good bacteria that have been said to be useful and healthy for the body. There is a group of collective microbes and microorganisms that consistently live in the human body and is called Flora. Stress, bad eating, and toxicity are only a few things that destroy this helpful community of microorganisms.

There are at least ten times more bacteria cells in and on the body than regular human cells. There are good and obviously bad bacteria in the body and there must be a balance. Again, all of these microbes make up the Flora of the body. They are found in your mouth, nose, small intestines, on your skin and mainly in your large intestine. The good bacteria in your intestines are there to break down nutrients that the body cannot digest and send them on their way out the colon. However, everyone knows about the bad microorganisms in the colon, E-Coli. The intestinal bacterium also synthesizes vitamins and folic acid. It is important for the good bacteria to remain in the body so it can inhibit the growth of pathogenic germs which can cause disease.

Many things we come in contact with everyday can destroy the good bacteria in our bodies. This results in the bad bacteria taking over and causing illness and disease. The first destroyer is stress which causes the brain to create chemicals that not only start killing good bacteria but will shut down the immune system as well. Excessive alcohol intake and exposure to toxic substances can also lower the good flora as well. Some major toxic substances people come in contact with and don’t realize the harm it’s doing include Fluoride which destroys the enzymes Flora creates, Mercury and Lead. And even worse, excess iron which allows free radicals to convert healthy cells to cancer cells, contributes to heart disease, and damages the liver and other organs. Smoking, inadequate sleep, overeating, and dehydration are also causes of a loss of good bacteria in the body.

With all of these outside objects killing the good flora in our bodies, it’s important to replace them. Fruits and vegetables can assist with this as long as they are raw. The enzymes you want from the vegetables are demolished if cooked because they die at 118 degrees Celsius. Some people may need to take supplements to get what they need. I-Flora by Sedona Labs is a 16 strain supplement that increases the natural flora in your body to support digestive, immune and overall health.

Making sure you have enough microflora in your body by taking Probiotics can have numerous health benefits. It has been said that it can help prevent colon cancer, lower cholesterol, improve immune function and prevent infections. Probiotics can also help reduce inflammation, and prevent harmful bacteria that grow under stress. Find a supplement now to promote overall good health!

Bacterial Vaginosis is basically defined as a disruption or an upset in the bacterial balance of the normal vaginal environment.

Cured Your Bacterial Vaginosis in 3 days the Natural Way

It affects women of childbearing years (15-44) and while sexual activity does seem to play a role in the occurance of BV it is not considered a sexually transmitted disease since even women that have not had sexual intercourse (virgins) or have not had sexual intercourse for a long time can contract this infection.

There are several symptoms of bacterial vaginosis but the worst, for most women is the fishy vaginal odor.

This odor is very distinctive only to bacterial vaginosis. If you have this unfortunate and embarrassing odor you can be assured that it stems from the vaginal infection caused by bacterial vaginosis.

Cured Your Bacterial Vaginosis in 3 days the Natural Way

    What is Bacterial Vaginosis?

Bacterial Vaginosis (BV) is when the vaginal environment undergoes a change in which the good bacteria that exist normally within begin to decrease and the bad bacteria begin to increase.

Exactly what brings about this shift is not know. Generally there may be several underlying factors or triggers that can bring about BV.

A variety of good bacteria constantly live within the vaginal area and help to protect it in a variety of ways. The bad bacteria also constantly live within the same area but when everything is in good order the good bacteria greatly outnumber the bad and keep them in check.

Two of the biggest culprits thought to bring on bacterial vaginosis are hormonal changes such as when a woman gets pregnant, starts or changes birth control and other hormonal events.

And the other is antibiotics. When you take antibiotics these powerful bacterial killers also kill the good bacteria within your body and can set the stage for bacterial vaginosis.

Have you ever thought about what goes into your body each and every day? If not, you should. One of the key ways to ensure that you feel good and are healthy is by eating nutritious food and making sure your GI tract has the tools it needs to digest and absorb nutrients as best possible. The GI tract, which includes the stomach and intestines, works to digest food and eliminate waste. A variety of “good” intestinal bacteria, called probiotic bacteria, can help to keep the digestive system running by helping to digest food, process waste, and keep the “bad” bacteria in check.

Although some kinds of bacteria do cause illness and diseases in humans, the majority of bacteria do not cause disease. There are actually types of bacteria that are beneficial. Probiotic bacteria are used in the manufacturing of food and beverages and can be found in buttermilk, yogurt, cheese, sausage, and acidophilus milk. The same probiotics can be found in our intestines, where they help to keep the digestive system running by digesting food and processing waste. Probiotics are live bacteria that are non-toxic and do not cause disease. Some of the best known probiotic bacteria include members of the Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium groups. These probiotic bacteria are also known as lactic acid bacteria because they have the ability to break down lactose. Both of these types of probiotic bacteria are well studied and are available in both food and dietary supplements. The bacteria that are found in yogurt, our intestine, and most natural supplements are the same types of probiotic bacteria, Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacteria longum. Because of this, these bacteria are referred in a generic sense as probiotics or “good” bacteria. Lactic acid bacteria can be found naturally in milk. The probiotic bacteria used in food and natural supplements are harvested through a highly controlled fermentation process which results in high numbers of quality bacteria.

Normal microflora (intestinal bacteria) is associated with good health, while an imbalance if frequently associated with various disease states including yeast infections and colon cancer. Eating foods or taking a nutritional supplement that contains probiotic bacteria can help support and modify the large intestine microflora, which assist digestion by making the intestines more inhospitable to invading bacteria species, protection against disease-causing bacteria, and stimulation of the immune system.

Lactose, which is an important sugar that is converted to lactic acid by lactic acid bacteria, can lead to lactose intolerance when the body is unable to digest lactose which results because of genetics, gastrointestinal disease, or a decline in the amount of intestinal lactase levels. Those who are deficient in lactase accumulate non-absorbed lactose in the GI tract, which draws water and electrolytes into the gut and speeds water through the intestines, causing bloating, cramping, and diarrhea. About 50 million people in the United States have some form of lactose in tolerance.

Digestive enzymes, which consist of protease, amylase, and lipase, act upon food by breaking it down into similar components that are used by the body for energy. Without these enzymes, digest could not take place and the food we eat could not be absorbed and utilized by our bodies. Probiotics help the enzymes in our bodies digest food and process waste, ensuring that the digestive tract is running smoothly. When taken with enzymes, the enzymes ensure greater levels of digestion and absorption of food while the probiotic bacteria aid the enzymes in digestion and keep problems in check.

Helping to ensure a healthy digestive system is not the only use for probiotics, as Lactoabcillus acidophilus has been found to help prevent vaginal yeast infections in women that suffer from these reoccurring infections. Probiotic bacteria have also been demonstrated to have anti-cancer properties. In one study, colon cancer patients given Lactobacillus acidophilus showed a significant increase in numbers of intestinal Lactobacilli and a decrease in risk factors associated with colon cancer. Patients suffering from inflammatory bowel diseases can also benefit from probiotic bacteria supplements. Probiotics supplementation can also improve and prevent skin diseases such as eczema. Scientific research has shown that probiotic bacteria can actually control inflammation associate with skin conditions.

Since probiotic bacteria do not permanently stay in the body, they need to be replenished through the consumption of foods which contain probiotic bacteria or taking a natural probiotic supplement daily. If you choose to take a probiotic nutritional supplement, the critical factor is how many bacteria reach the intestines healthy. A quality supplement should deliver at least 1 billion living probiotic bacteria per dose to your intestine and be mixture of both Lactobacillus and Bifidobacteria. A good quality probiotic nutritional supplement will have guaranteed levels of live bacteria at when it is consumed. Other, lesser, brands will just merely state levels of live bacteria at the point of manufacture. Look for a product that has a use by, or expiration date that is clearly stated on the package. It’s also important to find a supplement that does not require refrigeration because one can never be sure whether the supplement was refrigerated during shipment and storage to the retail store. A scientifically validated process (True Delivery Technology) assures that live bacteria are delivered to the intestine by suspending the probiotic bacteria in a moist paste and sealing the bacteria in a seamless spherical gelatin ball protected from air and dryness. Since lactic acid bacteria aren’t very resistant to stomach acid, the harsh environment destroys the majority of the bacteria. This new coating process protects the bacteria from the stomach acid, as the sphere is specially developed to dissolve in the intestines. Although this specialized process is expensive, it has many advantages to you. The gelatin spheres “seal” the bacteria in the capsule, protecting them from air, which can injure or kill probiotic bacteria and eliminating the supplement’s need to be refrigerated. By protecting the bacteria on the shelf and in the stomach, the probiotic bacteria are able to successfully reach the intestine. This means that, there will be a greater number of healthy bacteria that can arrive in the intestine. Acidophilus supplements can be found at your friendly online vitamin store at discount prices.

If you eat sushi regularly you need to read this! Find out the exact dangers of sushi and why you should be concerned about them.

    3 Sushi Health Risks!

Parasites: These organisms are well known to exist in just about any life form they can extract nutrients out of. Fish are no exception! Most times you won’t actually notice the effects of a parasite until enough time has passed for it to cause health problems for you. As the entire purpose of a parasite is to remain hidden and not detected, many of the symptoms it can cause you wouldn’t even think of such as emotional and mental problems, worsened allergies and asthma amongst other things. Of course they also cause many digestive problems. Simply put sushi is never safe from parasites, in fact were you aware the real reason wasabi is recommended with sushi is because it kills parasites and some bacteria found on sushi, so at the very least make sure to eat lots of wasabit with your sushi. Avoid the ginger however as most of it contains aspartame, bet you didn’t know that!

Heavy Metals: Fish are easily the #1 worst food to eat in terms of heavy metals. Some studies have found heavy metal levels so high that consuming some fish more often than once per month can cause significant toxicity. Mercury, lead and aluminum are but a few of the major contaminants. Symptoms can include physical, mental and emotional problems just like parasites such as chronic fatigue, depression and a difficulty concentrating. Immune suppression is very common which can lead to a host of other problems down the road including cancer.

Bacteria: If it wasn’t bad enough already you then have the bacteria which are responsible for the more acute symptoms of food poisoning people experience on occasion from eating raw food such as sushi. Salmonella is but one example of many. It’s one of the most commonly experienced dangers of sushi. What most people do not realize is that often who are most susceptible to being affected by bad bacteria also suffer from another fungus in their body known as candida.

Candida is in approximately 90% of the population and those who suffer from either parasites, heavy metals or a chronic bacterial infection are at the greatest risk of suffering from it. So even if you end up doing a parasite cleanse you now have the job of clearing out candida from your body. It causes a greater amount of symptoms than all the risk factors above combined and next to heavy metals can be one of the most difficult to completely eliminate unless a proper plan of action is following. First though you should take a candida test to see if any symptoms you experience from day to day are major signs of candida.
